BiographyHello I am Kira!
This is my 8th year in education. I am currently teaching Biology at Johnson High School in Buda, Texas! I also serve as a mentor for the UTeach Maker program at the University of Texas at Austin. I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Biology in 2015. I also completed the UTeach Natural Sciences teacher certification program for 7th-12th Grade Composite Science. I recently graduated from Texas A&M University with a Masters in Education for Curriculum and Instruction with emphasis in STEM. My experience includes 7th grade science, HS Chemistry, HS Biology and HS Integrated Chemistry and Physics. I have published two educational articles, Making As A Performance Task and Making Sense of the Human Body, both discuss how Maker Education can be used in the classroom. The purpose of this website is to document my experiences in education and to promote the use of research based educational strategies, like making, in the classroom.
